Anticipation: 5/5 How can one go wrong with Charlie Chaplin?

Final Verdict: 5/5 Beautiful and touching

At 85 years old, Chaplin’s City Lights is still one of most touching romantic comedies ever made.  In a time when film had adopted sound instead of solely relying on image, the cleverness and charm with which Chaplin was able to visually communicate his themes of love and selflessness without the use of dialogue is beyond brilliant. A masterpiece, a gem of a film that is essential viewing!
